Board Certification
Board Certification
Dr. Thomas P. Trevisani, founder of Celebrities Choice, has been board certified since 1983. But what does “board certified” mean exactly and why does it matter to you? Put simply, a board certified physician is one who has been recognized as a knowledgeable and skilled expert in his/her field by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Board certification is a voluntary process; it’s a process only select physicians go through to go above and beyond obtaining a medical license to prove their skill and expertise.
Although physicians are all legally required to obtain a medical license to diagnose and treat patients, the license doesn’t deal with specialties. Being board certified proves a doctor’s skill, knowledge, and dedication to their field and to superior care and results. To become board certified, the physician goes through a process that involves evaluations by peers and rigorous testing and assessments.
Since the board certification is a voluntary process, one that not all physicians go through, it is important that you do your research and only put your health and body in the hands of a named expert by ABMS.
