Will I see my result right away after Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is one of the most complicated surgical procedures we perform in our Practice.  All Rhinoplasties usually require manipulation and alteration of the bone, and cartilage under the skin. However, the result requires the skin to shrink entirely to conform to the newly realigned internal structures.

In a primary Rhinoplasty, this could require a year or more of swelling to subside. However, we remove a splint at 2 weeks post-op at which time the new shape can be seen – even though swollen. This will be the new overall shape – which during the next months will continue to improve and refine and maximize its appearance.

RHINOPLASTY

With revision Rhinoplasty- this process is even more complicated by internal scar tissue which after a good result may require more time than recovery after primary Rhinoplasty. Our goals are -to achieve the most refined and elegant looking nose on a female, and the most masculine nose – on a male. Furthermore, thick skin and previous surgeries may hinder the final result’s appearance over time.

In summary: the splint removal day will show the immediate new shape and, in most cases, a very dramatic result. It will require the passage of time, and additional maneuvers customized to each patient to achieve the most optimal aesthetic result.
