All cultures, throughout the world have aesthetic principles that govern behavior within that culture. Western culture places great emphasis on physical fitness, physiologic health, overall hygiene, and best appearances. For the most part beauty products and services are marketed to women.
However, men are becoming more conscious of their physical appearance and overall health. Cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption have all decreased while overall physical activity among men and women has increased dramatically.
Even in Europe, men are becoming more aesthetically conscious – although not as much as in America. It should be noted however that body weight and fashion in Italy and France are leaders in this endeavor. The most sought procedures in men are eyelid surgery, neck lift, rhinoplasty, chin augmentation, a liposuction. In our practice our most common male procedure is rhinoplasty. Also common among men is breast reduction surgery for men who seem to have more feminine-looking breasts than desirable.
Plastic Surgery for Men
Among the nonsurgical procedures Botox, hair removal, treatment for male pattern baldness, and other facial nonsurgical procedures are becoming much more popular. Once a man has a facelift or rhinoplasty it is recommended that he address his attention to the quality and texture of the skin. The combination of these practices in the consumption of products and services of this nature will keep us youthful.
For safety, we advocate general anesthesia for surgical procedures, as in my opinion, this provides a safer mechanism to ensure safety. Furthermore, in our practice, because we treat post-bariatric or post-weight loss patients, abdominoplasty is also a commonly desirable procedure. After weight loss, the lower abdominal skin and fat can be excessive and respond well to tummy tuck – along with muscle tightening.
It has become very desirable and fashionable for men to seek to improve their appearance. Our mantra is – – live longer, live better, and look your best.
