especially below the belly button. This is a major plastic surgery operation requiring experience, knowledge, skill, and training. In the right hands, complications will be minimized. The Brazilian butt lift is also a major operation.

During this procedure, the muscles of the abdominal wall are tightened. Once this operation is completed the patient is required to be positioned properly with the head elevated and the knees flexed. This creates flexion at the waist which will minimize the pressure on the incision site. This position is important for solid uncomplicated healing.

Brazilian butt lift requires extensive fat suction and re-infiltration of the fat to the buttock area. There are several potential problems with doing or having or performing the BBL at the same time as the tummy tuck. One problem is the position. BBL requires the patient to be prone or flat on their stomach or side for two weeks following the fat transfer to the buttock.

This position will damage the tummy tuck and not allow the maximum amount of skin to be removed. Some surgeons will perform both simultaneously – I will not and do not support this. Also, it has been shown that complications related to fat transfer harvesting and re-injection have caused significant complications including deaths.

To ensure maximum results for each procedure I strongly recommend staging the surgeries. Liposuction of the body including the abdomen will provide fat for the BBL which can then be transferred to the buttock area. Following a reasonable amount of healing for the BBL then the tummy tuck can be performed with more efficiency and safety.
