Ozempic is the tradename for a semaglutide, a complex subject used to treat type II diabetes. Type II is where your body can produce insulin but does not. As opposed to type I diabetes which does not produce insulin and must be replaced with shots. Ozempic also affects a part of the brain to reduce appetite and reduces the liver’s release of glucose. Overall, it is not a magic bullet to weight loss but it is a significant improvement to facilitate that goal.
The average weight loss with this substance is about 5 pounds per month. As a footnote: diet and exercise alone could equal or surpass this benefit. Also, bariatric surgery is more successful in most people. Once the skin of an adult has been exposed to excessive weight gain over a long period say years permanent damage is done to the substances within the skin that allow it to shrink once the weight is lost. Collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, fibrin – but mostly the collagen responds positively once the weight is shrunk away.
