Cryolipolysis first became popular in 2010. The discovery is that the application of cold within a range would shrink or even destroy fat cells. Over the last 20 years this technique of freezing your fat for body contouring has become popular. Certain types of machines apply the cold to the body under controlable circumstances. And, over time – weeks and months following several treatments – contouring of fatty areas seems to improve. It is not certain whether the fat cells actually die off or just shrink.
FREEZING YOUR FAT COMPLICATIONS
The belief is that once the cold is application occurs for freezing your fat the immune system becomes active and eliminates the breakdown products of the fat cells. Furthermore, the side effects will include redness, bruising, swelling, tingling, numbness or even darkening of the area. These side effects usually resolve in a few months. Ironically and unknowingly some people experience actual increase in fat at the site receiving treatment. There is no evidence of any widespread systemic complications.
Personally, I prefer traditional tumescent liposuction. This technique although requiring general anesthesia is far more successful in improving body contouring areas of fat fullness. Also, it’s far MORE predictable and permanent. If you’re not willing to undergo general anesthesia. And, have your body contouring approval by way of liposuction then try fat freezing. It may work for you and if it does great. If not, they will always have the opportunity to have the real deal liposuction.
